 Tristan's Journey

Tristan was in and out of the clinic this last week, First, of course to have his labs and to see how his numbers were. He got his blood transfusion, which happens after he has had chemo, then he got hemoglobin and platelets later in the week. He seems to be taking it in stride, even though he misses going to school and seeing all of his friends from Walled Lake Elementary. If his labs are good this week he will start chemo again on Friday, the 21st. He looks pale, but he was up for a movie on Sunday, so we went and saw the movie Underdog....he had been telling his parents that he wanted a golden retriever but after this movie he wanted a beagle. It will be interesting to see which one his parents let him have.

My sister, Terry, will be in town on Wednesday for our class reunion, she has not seen Tristan since she swooped into town last and I can't remember when she was here but it has been at least six months. I am sure she will notice the difference in him. But again he is tumor free right now and we are so thankful for that.

Please remember to keep him in your thoughts and send wonderful positive thoughts his way as you go about your daily life....

Love,

Charlotte

 Tristan's Journey

Hi everyone,

My last update said that Tristan would not need more chemo and that was a wrong statement....my daughter informed me on Saturday that he would have to go through round 2 which consists of 3 phases of chemo. Not sure when that will start, but probably as soon as his body recovers from the chemo from last week and as long as his wbc, rbc and platelets are strong enough for more of it.

I saw him yesterday and other than being very pale, and his heart rate being up, he looked good and was feeling better....as I have said before it takes him awhile to recover from the chemo and to get it out of his body, so he can start again.

Once this chemo is done perhaps he will be able to start school...but it sounds like he may not be able to until the January semester starts.

Please keep all of those good and positive thoughts coming his way to help him on his journey as he continues to recover....

Love,

Charlotte

 Update on Tristan's Journey

Hi all,

I haven't updated since the Breakfast benefit for Tristan, which was very successful. It was wonderful to see the outpouring from the community that supported him and his family.

At this time his cancer tumors are gone, but everyone that starts chemo ends up with their tumors being gone, so the plan is to not stop the chemo treatments but to continue to make sure that any rogue cancer cells do not get the chance of reproducing again. He came home from treatment on Thursday....he has not gotten sick from the chemo yet and that is a good thing. The doctors think that since he hasn't gotten sick he may not....it is wonderful news that his tumors are gone so keep all of those positive thoughts coming his way to keep it away.

His spirits are good and he will be starting home schooling through Walled Lake schools maybe next week, he was looking forward to starting middle school with all of his friends from elementary...but that will not be happening...maybe he will start in January.

I was in the hospital the last two days for my blood pressure...they can't seem to figure out why it is spiking up then down....I am feeling okay, just a little weak and tired....

Thank you again for your generous support and donations to Tristan and his family....

 Update on Tristan

Tristan told his mom today "that he felt like his old self", this from a guy with a bald head and iv lines that are ports for his chemo, and the mask he has to wear because he is neutroponic....he felt like his old self....how wonderful to hear those words coming from him. He is smiling a lot more the last few days because he feels good....it seems that it takes him about a week and a day after chemo to feel somewhat good enough to talk and laugh and to interact with everyone.

Tomorrow he goes to the lab and will probably receive platelets to replace what he has lost to the chemo. If everything goes well he will start round 1 again for the 2nd time, on Friday the 24th of August. More than likely he will be in for the week-end. I am sure he would like to be at the benefit but he can't be around germs etc...it would make him to susceptible to infections, so we are really monitoring that end of it.

I have been trying to figure out a way that he could join us for the benefit by web cam or something...does anyone have any ideas how he could be there to interact but not there? All suggestions are welcome!!!

Remember Sunday Aug.26 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 is the benefit for Tristan at the VFW hall in Wixom on Loon Lake Road. Donation is $6.00

Please come and join us and bring your friends and family....

 Update on Tristan

Hi Everyone,

Again I have misspoken on Tristan's Chemotherapy...he did have round 2 that started on Friday and finished on Monday night. The chemotherapy that he is having continues for four rounds each.

He is not feeling well because the chemo has destroyed his red blood cells as well as his platelets and white blood cells. Tomorrow he goes back in for lab work to see if he can start round 1 again. He will probably end up having another blood transfusion. If anyone is a blood donor this would be a good time to do that. Tristan is O negative like his mother and myself. I think you can even specify his name on the donation. Not that he will get that but they will know that it replaces what has been used for him.

If you have read the blog and wanted to leave any comments, you have to register like you are going to start a blog, but in fact you are just registering to leave comments. For some reason this is confusing and the web designers need to fix it. If you can't figure it out just send it to me at my email address: catrombley@gmail.com

Thanks again for all of your support....
