 Tristan's Journey

Happy holiday season everyone......this is the time of year when all kids know that this is their time of the year! They are looking forward to Thanksgiving and the Christmas season, all the days off from school, hanging out with their buds, doing nothing, just what kids like to do.

I don't know about you but I think the Holiday season is for everyone, we all have some kid in us....Tristan, his Mom and Dad, and his sister, Sara are all leaving for an adventure on December 17....Make a Wish Foundation is sending them to Disney World. They will be picked up in a limo from home, be dropped at the airport and be flown to Orlando. They are so excited, especially Tristan, it will be his first time there and at an age that he will really enjoy it. His Mom was about five the first time she went and I remember how excited she was... So maybe if you aren't doing anything on that day, you might be interested in waving at them as they leave on their wonderful trip. I will follow with the details in my next writing.

I think I told everyone that Tristan was done with chemo. Well he is right now. On Thursday they made a trip to the hospital, he wasn't feeling well, they kept them overnight and came home on Friday, the 16th. He is Nutroponic and has to be careful, but that will be gone soon. His hair is starting to grow.....yayyyyyyyyy....he might have some for his trip....until you go through something like this, you really don't understand how cancer is....you learn a lot and how important the people in our lives are, and that you appreciate and love them.....we don't say that enough, so I am going to say it now to everyone that reads this...

YOU ARE LOVED AND APPRECIATED!!!!.....

Thank you for those positive and circling thoughts and prayers...they have helped immensely....

Love,

 Tristan's Journey

Hi All,

Sorry for the late update on Tristan's Journey, It's been a bit hectic for me.

Tristan went to the hospital on Friday, November 2, for hopefully his last chemo treatment.........he will go in this week for his labs to be checked and maybe have to have platelets, hemoglobin or a blood transfusion, probably sometime after he comes home on Tuesday...then he will have a PET scan to see if the cancer is gone in about another week.....

He did go out for Halloween with some of his friends, had a little trouble because he was pushing himself to keep up with the other kids, but he had a good time and got to go....his spirits are still good, his hair grows between treatments but he is still more bald than having hair on his head.....he has been keeping up with his schoolwork
and seems to be doing well at it. He's gotten real good at things like XBox and football videos....at least they are keeping him from being bored, when he should be in school....soon enough for that...

Keep those thoughts circling as he heads into hopefully a long remission and can reclaim what's left of his 11th year...

Love,

Charlotte

 Tristan's Journey

Hi Everyone,

Tristan had chemo on Friday, October 12, and came home on Tuesday this week. He did not feel well until today. When I saw him he was singing, and when he sings you know everything is okay. He told me he was feeling way better today. They had gone to the clinic to have his labs checked and he did not have to get anything extra, blood transfusion, hemoglobin or platelets, which is good.

They go back to the clinic on Monday to have his labs checked again. He will also get to see some of the Piston players, and that makes him real happy and excited!!

He has been keeping up with his schoolwork and so have I been keeping up with his schoolwork, especially in the Math department. Which is good for me, given that I am still taking electronics courses and there is a lot of math in them.

Just a follow-up to the maiden with the broken ankles....the left is now in a walking cast, no surgery required and the right is in a boot that keeps her from using it. All in all she is doing pretty well, but not driving and not working...of course how do you drive or work without your feet?

That's it for the news right now, remember to keep those thoughts circling...........

Love,

Charlotte

 Tristan's Journey

Hi All,

It has been a couple of weeks since I updated everyone on Tristan's progress.

He is doing well and we are hoping he will be done with all of this by December. He played on Saturday all day with his friend Patrick, he even tried to ride his bike, but just didn't have the stamina for that and will have to work up to riding the bike, a little bit at a time.

When he went to the clinic on Tuesday, there were some Lions' football players there and he immediately recognized a couple of them. One was Mike Furry, I guess he is a wide receiver, I don't really follow the Lions, but Tristan and his Dad do and he knew right away that it was him. Well this guy came over and was talking to Tristan, which of course made his day, and Tristan wanted to call his Dad to tell him, so Mike called his Dad for Tristan and I am not sure who was more excited Tristan or Anthony. All in all it was very exciting for Tristan and he even got his autograph and a few pictures with him.

Tristan will go in Friday for chemo again, not sure how many days he will be there, but probably no more than five.

As far as we know he is still tumor free, which I believe puts him into remission....although he did ask his Mom if he would have to worry about getting cancer again when he is older. I think she told him it was a possibility but didn't know for sure.

Just a note, some of you know my friend Nancy Millar, she's a bus driver for Walled Lake Schools, she was looking at a house and when she turned to walk away she stepped into two mole holes and broke both of her ankles. She was in the hospital from Wednesday to Sunday, one leg in a cast and the other in an air cast, they are not sure if she will need surgery or not, until they xray it again sometime this week. She could not put weight on her feet and two guys put her in her car and then she drove herself to the hospital.

Well that's the news this week...keep those thoughts circling....

 Tristan's Journey

Tristan came home from the hospital on Monday evening after the first phase of his second round of chemo. This time he was a bit nauseous and did vomit....but only a couple of times. Sometimes chemo is judged by how much you vomit and since this is the first time for him to do that, he is doing well with the chemo. His body seems to tolerate it very well. Even though it takes a couple of days after the chemo for us to see how much it affects him.

He is being home schooled a couple of times a week, so he is not missing out on his education. My sister Terry was here and saw him for the first time....she was a bit overwhelmed when she saw him but she held it together, put on a smile and hugged him. She told him how proud she was of him having to put up with all of this and all of us hovering around him.

He will be going to Disney World for his Make-a-wish request sometime in December...he has never been so he should enjoy it a lot. He will also be going to some Red Wings games and getting VIP treatment there as well.

Thanks again for all your support through this..
